Feasibility Sketches

When a project is at RIBA stage 1, ƒ(𝒏) Architects provide high-level hand-drawn sketches for a project. This service is essential to understand the feasibility of a site and to help the client understand some of the site potentialities / constraints before delving deeper into a project. This helps firm up the brief prior to appointment and can be extremely useful in preliminary discussions with other parties / funders / statutory authorities.

ƒ(𝒏) Architects are happy to offer this feasibility service as standard, commitment-free, to any new clients for a nominal charge (agreed beforehand). Please get in touch if you would like to discuss your project.

As musicians, Ross and his bandmates have lived the experience of paying through the nose to rent a practice room or a recording studio. The independant music industry in Liverpool is under extreme pressure with the loss of venues and declining pay for performances. ƒ(𝒏) Architects is advocating for a group of artists to set up a collectively-owned recording and rehearsal space for the specific benefit of grassroots musicians and performers, prefiguring desperately needed infrastructure for the community. A few spaces are being considered and funding sought for the first phase.

ƒ(𝒏) Architects are presently working on a scheme for the retrofit of a Scottish farmhouse and outbuildings to provide spectacular modern accommodation. To help establish the brief, an ‘all-singing-all-dancing’ sketch design was developed to test the existing buildings and help the client understand the potential of these spaces. The project is presently at Stage 1.

The following are examples of sketch schemes for smaller intricate projects including a small detached house extension in Shropshire, a granite shed conversion holiday let in Cornwall, and a terraced house renovation in Watford.
