Rushford Park

f(n) Architects were commissioned to undertake an extension and refurbishment to a detached Victorian house within a conservation area in Manchester. Despite the beautiful surroundings, the external condition of the house is poor as the house had very badly rendered and refurbished in the 1970s. A comprehensive set of improvements are proposed including a scheme to retrofit energy improvement measures including works to provide insulated cladding to refinish the external elevations while retaining existing proportions and being sensitive to the surroundings. Works are also proposed to sensitively reorder internal spaces to provide modern accessible accommodation. A minimal brick outrigger will contrast the main elevations and provide a family kitchen and dining room and a master bedroom on the first floor. The project is expected to receive planning approval in 2022.
